One person maintains this site, and there is one way to reach them: email. There is no contact form, because a form would need a server to receive it and the whole site is deliberately static.

Expect a reply within a few days. Messages that include a specific page URL and a clear description of what you saw get answered fastest — and, if it is a bug, fixed fastest.

What to write about

Any of these is welcome. The links open your mail app with the subject line already filled in, which just helps sort the inbox.

Something is wrong

A reading the simulator gives that a real caliper would not, a mistake in a worked example, or a broken control. Tell us your browser and device, and the least count and units you had selected — that combination is usually enough to reproduce it.

A least count we do not offer, a caliper type we do not simulate, a language you need it in. No promises on timing, but requests that arrive more than once tend to get built.

Classroom and course use

You are welcome to use the simulator in lessons, labs, worksheets and course pages, and to link to it freely, without asking. Write only if you need something specific — an offline copy, a set of fixed practice readings, or written permission on file for your institution.

Before you write

Two things come up often enough to answer here.

"The caliper is not the right physical size."

It will not be, and it cannot reliably be. A browser has no dependable way to know your monitor's true pixel density, so the on-screen instrument is drawn at an approximate scale. It is a teaching tool for reading a scale, not a ruler — do not hold objects against your screen to measure them.

"My reading disagrees with the answer."

Check the zero error control first, then the least count. A reading taken with the wrong least count is out by a consistent factor, and a non-zero zero error shifts every result by the same amount. If both are as you expect and the numbers still disagree, that is a bug worth reporting — please include a screenshot.

Privacy of what you send

Email you send is stored in an ordinary mailbox and used only to answer you. It is not added to a mailing list and not passed to anyone else. Please do not send personal information beyond what your question actually needs. See the privacy policy for how long correspondence is kept and how to ask for it to be deleted.
